Two weeks ago, we released a free update to Accordance 8.3 with a ridiculous number of new features. A week later we released 8.3.1 to fix several bugs. Now, a week after that, we’re announcing the release of Accordance 8.3.2, another minor bug-fix update.

What’s the deal with all these bug-fix releases? Are we having trouble getting our act together? Not at all. Each of these updates is actually a testament to how quickly we respond to reported problems.

The release of 8.3 came at about the same time Apple released the new Snow Leopard Operating System, and while we had tested 8.3 with pre-release versions of Snow Leopard, we knew there might be issues we would need to fix. The most troubling issue we found was a crash which some users were experiencing with Snow Leopard. We quickly identified the cause as a bad text font which these users happened to be using within Accordance. At the same time, we learned that Snow Leopard was having issues with a particular class of fonts and we suspected the two problems might be related.

Our temporary solution was to disable that entire group of fonts to avoid any more crashes. In the meantime, we’ve been hard at work on a more permanent fix. As it turns out, only the Snow Leopard version of Hoefler Text presents a problem, and that can be avoided by using an older version of the font. As for the other fonts we disabled, those have been restored in Accordance 8.3.2.

Of course, we can’t seem to release a bug-fix release without adding some new enhancement. In 8.3.1 we made a slight improvement to the Copy as Citation feature. In 8.3.2 we’ve enhanced the new Copy as User Tool command by having the pasted links automatically be formatted as links (so you don’t have to select them and click the Link button). Accordance 8.3.2 also lets you create user tool links to other user tools.

Long story short, you should now download the latest update to Accordance 8.3.2. We don’t plan to keep releasing weekly updates, but hey, it’s not so bad getting new improvements every week. Is it?
