Do you have any family members that live in different time zones? This is a common experience for many of us. When I first moved to California for seminary, my family could never remember that we were three hours apart. This resulted in far too many 5 AM phone calls on Saturday morning. Family visits were also challenging, since jet-lagged East-coasters were ready to call it a night while the rest of LA was preparing for an early dinner. Although it took several months, my family eventually adjusted to the different time zones.

When I joined the Accordance team, I had a whole new set of time zones to keep in balance. You may be aware that our headquarters are in central Florida, but did you also know that we have employees that work all over the country, and even the world? This is great news for customers, as it allows us to provide local training seminars and demonstrations on a regular basis. However, with team members in so many different parts of the world, it can be challenging to keep track of the different time zones. The last thing you want to do is make a nonchalant phone call at 3 pm to a team member whose phone is ringing at midnight. To keep me on the straight and narrow, I have three clocks set up in my office that correspond to the main time zones I need to keep straight.

Time Zones

Not only does this add a classy touch to my work environment, but it was also fairly inexpensive to set up. Altogether:

Three Wall clocks with understated elegance: $21

Vinyl decal letters in Century Gothic Font: $18

Not being “that guy” who calls you while you’re in your pajamas: Priceless
