Yesterday I flew to New Orleans for the annual meetings of the Evangelical Theological Society and the Society of Biblical Literature. We set up our booth last night and are now demonstrating Accordance to ETS attendees. I don’t have time to give a detailed account right now, but here are a few random thoughts about the show.
These meetings are hosted in different cities around the U.S. each year, and I always enjoy the years when these shows are in the South. Why the regional bias? One simple reason: it’s only in the southern cities that I can get breakfast with grits!
I’ve exhibited Accordance at these shows every year but one since 1995. The one year I missed was 1996, when my second son, Caleb, was born. That was the last time ETS and SBL were hosted in New Orleans, so this is my first time here.
In the early years, we would demonstrate the existing features of Accordance, and then we would give people a sneak peek at upcoming features still in development. Today, Accordance is so versatile and so feature-rich that most demos usually just scratch the surface. Today I gave a demo to a man who punctuated each feature I showed with “Wow.” The thing is, nearly all of what showed him has been in Accordance since version 1.0 was released in 1994. I never really got into any of the “newer” features.
I said that we would preview upcoming features in the early years, but that we don’t do that anymore. Well, let me just say that this year might be an exception. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that. 😉
