My favorite part of the Christmas season is getting to read really cool stories to my children. In addition to the biblical narratives, I love reading ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, A Christmas Carol, and The Gift of the Magi. There’s something about brilliant writing that just begs to be read over and over again, so I never tire of reading these stories year after year.

This year, in addition to my own children, I’m trying to expose other kids to the genius of Dickens and O. Henry. I’m teaching high school English at my children’s homeschool co-op, and I’ve assigned both A Christmas Carol and The Gift of the Magi to my students. At times they think it funny that Mr. Lang gets so excited about these stories, but I want them to learn to appreciate great writing.

What has all this got to do with Accordance? Well, it’s Accordance that I’ve been using to read these stories to both my children and my students. Thanks to our Christmas Classics module, I have all of these stories and more available from within Accordance. I read them from my Mac, my iPad, and even my iPhone when necessary. I even have wonderful illustrations I can show them.

In addition to the stories I’ve mentioned, the Christmas Classics module also includes great Christmas sermons, carols and poems, a series of Scripture readings for Advent, and classic art images of the Nativity.

There’s still plenty of time to read Christmas Classics to your own family before Christmas, to mine them for Christmas sermon illustrations, or to incorporate the art images into your bulletins and keynote presentations. It’s a great resource you’ll find yourself using over and over again.
