Say "Uncial"!

Rubén Gómez of Bible Software Review (which is experiencing a resurgence) has blogged about the availability of grammatically tagged editions of uncial Greek manuscripts in Accordance. As Rubén points out, we now offer digital editions of the following codices: Vaticanus, Sinaiticus, Bezae, and Washingtonensis. Be sure to check out Rubén's discussion of these resources.

Creating a digital edition of a Greek manuscript (as opposed to showing scanned images of its pages) presents special challenges which had to be dealt with. For a discussion of the rationale behind Accordance's tagged uncial manuscripts, see this paper by the scholar who developed them.

Comments:
Am running Acc 8.0.4 on OS X 10.4.11 and especially in the User Notes window the cursor sometimes is far off from the actual text entry point, by as much as 2 characters. I also notice when high-lighting biblical text sometimes the highlight doesn't match the selection I have made with the cursor. I am running this same version on another macbook and have the very same problem with both machines. I did NOT have this problem before Version 8 of Accordance.

Also, using "Apple" "colon" does not activate the spelling checker like it used to one Version 7. I am used to Version 7 and some of the documentation on version 8 says I could still use this keyboard shortcut, but it doesn't work.

Thanks for your help. It is a great program.

Dennis
