They clear the search box so you can quickly enter a new search whenever you're ready. But I do prefer the Accordance design. I normally don't have more than one search to perform at a given time, so I would not need an automatically cleared search box. Furthermore, when I do searches I don't always know how broad or narrow the results will be. After I do an initial search I almost always either narrow or broaden the search in some way to retrieve the information I need.

If you only see Adam highlighted in the verses, how do you know whether you searched for Adam or Adam Eve?
