Version 8 was released in 2008, so I would be surprised if 9 is not released sometime next year. That being said, I know nothing official, so it's all speculation based on previous release cycles.</p>
<p>R., by 2014 the Mac OS will no longer be OS X. In 2000 when Steve Jobs first introduced OS X, he said it was their roadmap for the next decade. My bet is that 10.7 (assuming 10.6 is not the last version of OS X, which it could be, but probably isn't) is the final OS X version and by 2014 we'll be using a new OS (OS XI?).
