It's a good discussion because there are different perspectives as to whether or not it seemed successful. Folks at Oak Tree might want to listen in order to consider whether or not to attend next year's event (assuming there is an event next year).

R. The author suspects that many negative articles were written in advance of MacWorld Expo and he implies that their authors were unable to see anything other than what they expected to see. Ironically, he admits that he wrote his own positive summary of MacWorld Expo ahead of time, and sure enough, he does not appear to have seen anything other than what he expected (or hoped) to see.

If we think an Apple-less MacWorld Expo really can be successful, we'll certainly consider exhibiting once again. At this point, we've read mixed reviews and anecdotal evidence which is largely inconclusive. Still, the fact that it hasn't been all doom and gloom is a hopeful sign.

Jon

http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/they_said_it_couldnt_be_done_idg_pulls_off_an_apple-less_expo_hit_will_no-s/

The MacWorld Expo has been the Holy Grail for Mac users like me for a long time. Here I thought I was going to get to go—and have Accordance foot the bill for my my trip!

David Lang

Jim, that may be, but if you read the posts from last year I referenced, you'll see that MacWorld has been losing its punch for years now. It has become much more a local show than in years past, and the exhibit hall has become much more focused on iPod accessories than on Mac software. So self-fulfilling prophecy or no, the writing has been on the wall for a while. At least give us credit for lasting longer than Adobe. They went from show centerpiece to no show last year. If they won't come to MacWorld, I don't think our presence will be enough to save it! :-)

Jim

Sounds like you are helping to fulfil the self-fulfilling prophesy.
