Having the ability to stay within Accordance as I develop more of my sermon means staying closer to my text even while selecting photos, maps, and yes even illustrations. My only complaint is that you are really testing my ability to stay within my allotted "books" budget with all the new modules!

David C

Thank you David for defending resources that are used more by pastors. I enjoy all the academic resources and find them useful in the ministry but there are times that I wish there were more resources geared specifically to pastoral ministry which not only includes preaching but teaching, counsel and administration as well.

No complaints here I only ask that you please keep up the good work.

David Lang

Patrik, this may be the first time we've been accused of offering more fluff than meat. Your comments make me wonder how carefully you've been following all the new products that have been released in the last few months. Products like the Göttingen Septuagint, JBL, the Sacred Bridge, the Old Testament Peshitta, tagged Greek codices, apocryphal apocalypses, and patristic works are hardly low-calorie fare, and most of those items are only available on Accordance. If anything, we need more resources like the ones mentioned in this blog post—resources of use to the pastor who needs to connect with people who have never heard of Karl Barth. Would you begrudge us serving those people as well as serious scholars and theologians? Far from being "stuck with the publishers' leftovers," we only develop resources which we believe will be genuinely helpful to our users. You may not find these resources personally helpful, but then, we're not forcing you to buy them.

PatrikP

Hmm... are these really necessary as Accordance modules?

I am starting to get a bit worried that I have spent my resources on the wrong software. This is despite the fact that I am very happy with the way Accordance performs and works. The matter of the fact is that the modules, books and texts that are becoming available rarely come close to being neither interesting nor relevant to any serious theological work. Like the ones this post relates to for example.

Whereas the Logos Bible Software (now available in a very well performing version for Mac, not to mention the already available version for iPad) offers theologically relevant titles, like Barth's Church Dogmatics for example, together with an impressive array of original-language related literature Accordance seems to be stuck with the publishers' leftovers. Again, see the blogpost´s books for a good example.

Unless there is "shape up" coming in the near future, when it comes to the theological quality and relevance of the titles released, I am afraid that at least one Accordance-user will start to regret tha fact that the Accordance-platform was chosen in the first place.
