Hello,

When I click the blue button on any of the Tools (the one that usually says "Entry"), I see the options flickering constantly without being able to choose any of them. This happens consistently in all the Hebrew, Greek, Reference and other Tools in my Original Languages Windows 10.3.3.1 version.

I would appreciate any help regarding this issue.

Thanks!

I experienced the same when I changed the settings for Windows 7 64 at >Control Panel>System and Security>System>Advanced system settings (left menu)>Advanced (tab)>Performance>Visual Effects (tab). Although not 100% sure, I think the Accordance search field flickering has something to do with how Windows applications draw pixels on the screen. See this general description by Microsoft.

Search field flickering occurs when I either unchecked the "Enable desktop composition" OR the "Use visual styles on windows and buttons". Unchecking the former causes flicker for me. Unchecking the latter will also uncheck the former. I have attached my Visual Effects settings that work fine with Accordance.

Thank you, that didn't work for me. I have learned to live with it... Hopefully it will be fixed in the future.

Hello Shulgi,

So far, no one else has chimed in on the flickerings, so I can't conclude that a future version of Accordance will address the issue per se.

You never provided any specs of your computer and operationg system.

What exactly did you try on your computer that did not solve the flickering of the drop-down search field ?

If you have Windows 7, what happens when you let the OS determine the level of Visual Effects? What happens when you boot your computer in Safe Mode (and nothing else)? Do you have the latest video driver for your system? Have you tried changing the screen resolution (from recommended setting to a lower setting)? Do you experience menu flickers with only Accordance?

Edit: Was there a time when the flickering in Accordance did not occur on your computer?

Hello David,

I am sorry I won't have the time to get into so much details. So in short, I have Windows Vista 32, which works great. I tried changing the settings according to what you said earlier but it made no difference. I find it hard to believe this is related to my computer, since other similar menus in accordance (not in the tools), work just fine. I experience it only on Accordance, and more specifically on the blue button of the tools. It was there from the start.

Hope this answers at least some of the questions. I actually got used to it, but still think it should be fixed.

Best

Thanks Shulgi for the additional information. I recall that on my computer the text search menu never flickered. It could be a bug in Accordance after all. I wonder if other folks who use Accordance on Vista 32 are experiencing the issue?

His Blessings,

David

I believe this should be better in 10.3.4, but let us know if you still see it after the update goes live!

  • 4 weeks later...

On both of my computers (Windows 7 SP1 64), I believe the issues are have been fixed. The search drop down menus corresponding to different modules no longer flashes (or become corrupted). And the menus look correct when I move modules around the workspace. Thanks for the hard work in developing 10.3.4.1. I hope this also fixes the issues observed by the OP using Windows Vista.
