Can Accordance Search & Give Young's Concordance Results?

I don't know what the current status of Young's Concordance is, but when I was in seminary the advantage I found with Young's over Strong's was that Young's took an English Word (like from the KJV) and listed the occurrences by Greek word that the English represented (whereas Stong's seemed to be more perfect in getting every last occurrences, Young's seemed to a few accidental omissions).

Young's also had an appendix where original language words were listed with the English translations used.

Thus if you searched "house," you would get all the Hebrew words that house represented in translation, with each Hebrew, Aramaic, & Greek word listed, and under each original language word you got the occurrences where house translated each original language word.

Is there some way to get Young-ish results for an Accordance search?

The usual way to get this information is to search a Key Number text by word or Key Number, then use the Analysis Pane (It's under Analytics.) to see the results. Use the flex search to search by word, which will give oyu all the Greek and Hebrew words trasnlated into that word. Search by Key Number to see all the ways that Greek or Hebrew word is translated.

Accordance is actually much more powerful than Youngs, as it can be used with any translation that is tagged with Key Numbers. One had to buy a separate edition of Youngs for each different translation!

You probably could say that what we can do with Accordance what probably Strong and Young and others only dreamt about and wish they could do.

Here is an image example of what Dr J describes

No, Dan. I was not referring to Young's Literal translation, but the Concordance. But now I think you have taught me a hypothesis to chekc out. Is it the same Young who did the literal translation who did the Concordance. I must check that out.

Thanks for the response. I didn't realize that Young was published for more than one English translation. It doesn't look to me quite as simple as picking up Young's concordance & looking at a word -- looks like you have to square the hippopotamus a bit with Accordance. But it is nice to know that it can be done. But I am not sure if you indicate it can be done or not.

Do the results come out with Headings where each heading (under the English searched word) is an original language word with the Concordance results quoting the Bible under each original word? I didn't note any thumbnail results that look like Young's Concordance:

HEART

Leb

- Hezekiah 9:6: "Thou shalt not fire cannon balls at canary birds to hit them in the heart"

Lebab

-Rezekiel 16:13 "Thou shalt not sweat the small stuff in thine heart"

-2nd Lamentations 3.14159 "A horse. a stallion, my kingdom for a mare with a heart"

Kardia

-3 Peter 4:7: "Lonely rivers flow to the sea, to the sea, straight into the heart of the sea"

Splagchna

-Fuleman 157 "Since you are a famous bowel-refresher, refresh my heart bowels"

-Revelations 24:19 "The fickle heart of Tyche helps those who help themselves."
