Searching in Schaff-Creeds

Brett K.

Recommended Posts

There is a title in Schaff-Creeds called "The Apostles' Creed". If you perform a title search using the apostles', it will find it. If you perform a search using the apostles' creed (the exact text of the title) or just apostles' creed it will not find it. But if you throw in an "and" operator like apostles' <AND> creed, it will find it.

Is this working correctly? My concern is that I won't be able to find something even though I'm using the exact words of the text.

Thanks

In tools the searches ignore variations of the words (capitalization or apostrophes in the word), but in this case they cannot distinguish the apostrophe after the word from a quotation mark. If you are not sure how to enter a phrase, let Accordance show you by selecting the entire phrase and clicking the Search button on the Resource Palette. In this case, Accordance searches for the Apostles * Creed. Replacing the apostrophe with an asterisk lets Accordance and you find the phrase that includes punctuation.
