remove map search result highlight

Is there a way to remove the highlighted result of a search from the map without closing the map? The highlights can be distracting and I get tired of closing and opening the tab.

There are two much easier ways: select the name and press delete. If the name would have been displayed anyway, it reverts to the regular display. The other method, to clear all selected sites, is in the sites pop-up menu on the window itself.
