WBC for $299.00: Do it if you can

I just wanted to chime in that I bought into the package as well. Thanks everyone for the helpful feedback. The WBC is now the first major package purchased on the Accordance platform... Now I can't believe that NICOT/NT is available for under $800 (I purchased it a few years ago on Logos for $1000 and I've never seen it available for that price again since that time).

Logos has a very high opinion of their texts. Their value added goes way beyond the price for the most part. It is true buying NIC in OT (as i did) is a poor substitute for Logos with lots links to other books and good citation options. But Accordance has great citation options and a powerful search engine and you are at no significant disadvantage getting it Accordance, I only wish I had known it would be getting down this cheap in accordance again.

At the risk of derailing this thread, I would agree. All things being equal, I'm starting to lean towards Accordance when it comes to major sets. They offer a good all-around product. I tried to stay exclusive to Logos, and I know many will make very strong arguments for doing so, but there are strengths to the other platforms as well. OT works best with tablet devices, and they consistently offer the best price on major sets. Their resource guide feature is extremely handy. However, as a sem student, their platform cannot serve as reference bookshelf and their PC offering adds no additional value over the tablet platform. Navigation and formatting is also poor for anything other than the Bible. I recently invested in WordSearch after getting over half of the MacArthur NT commentary set for about $30 total! Their software is more of a straight eReader platform, that only works well on Windows. However I was pleasantly surprised to see how good their book reproduction quality is. Charts, tables, and formatting remains incredibly faithful to the original hard copies, and unlike OT, I still have citation capabilities. Charts and graphs are also of the highest quality (perhaps even better than Accordance) and can be easily exported. Finally, their library is quite expansive with several books that I can't find anywhere else, However, their support for mobile platforms is poor and the MSRP cost of their books is even higher than Logos or Accordance in many cases.

I feel your pain with the price drops... over the past year now, I've seen substantial drops that I never thought I'd see for products like WBC, NICNT/OT, and even NIGTC. I'm glad I waited until now to jump in on WBC. Now the sale on the NIGTC is tempting...

I do agree with Dan. I think that for Primary text searches, specially complex ones that most of you guys need to do, Accordance offers the best and faster search engine.

I would love to see becoming as good when it comes to secondary resources and tools. Like Dan said, the tagging that Logos offer within all their resources is second to none. I think it only respond to each company focus as a tool. I am glad of the differences, though.

That said, I totally agree with Dan that spite of that, you will accomplish the same with Accordance because what matters is there.

I remember long ago that Dan told me to just use each software for what each one does best. The more I learn and use both the more I see the wisdom in that advice. As Bible student I am grateful for each company and their devotion to produce the best study tools they can. The only "competition" that should exist between any of this companies is to continue to provide us with incredible tools to help us cast light in the world we live in.

And as a side note, one BIG blessing for me is this forum. Not only is very supportive but NICE. Every time I come here a leave edified, enriched, uplifted. It is sad to see that others forums I belong to I don't see the respect and love I see here. I have to even question if they are really Christian forums (I'll guess that that is a reflection of christendom at large). But nevertheless is frustrating.

Is like everyone here appreciate the value of the tool and respect the dedication and effort of those behind the tool. So, THANKS!!
