ProperNoun in GNT

I was wondering if I could find proper names in the GNT module. *@[Noun ProperName] produces an error saying that the tag was not found in the module. Do I have to 'upgrade' to GNT-T for this tag? Is there a work around?

Luke,

As far as I know, the only Greek modules currently tagged with the ProperName tag are AF, GNT-T, GNT-TIS, GNT-WH, LXX1, and LXX2.

GNT follows GRAMCORD's morphological tagging, which does not include this particular (and very useful!) ProperName tag. And no, there is no workaround. You cannot find what has not been tagged :) If you want to search for proper names you'll have to get any/all of the above modules.

Hope this helps,

As a subset of proper names, does anyone have a method to search for proper names that are site names or places?

Or as a new Accordance feature? Could a correlation be added with the 'Place Names' or 'Sites' files used by the Atlas?

I really do not see how we can do this, sorry!

Maybe the relational joining cannot be done in Accordance, but it seems that a subset of tag [NOUN properName] would be PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS which could be added to the indexes as any other subset data. It seems all the data is already contained in the Places file structure since scripture tags exist per place. When working thru a book preparing geographical data a [NOUN properName places] tag would be very useful and reduce much manual work. A people subset tag could likewise prove useful.

Adversely, the properName tag is in GNT-T and the Places information is in an English tool. Also, I suppose the larger index would be millisecond-slower and some development effort is required.

Ah, but what about those proper nouns which refer to both a person and a place? (e.g. Ephraim, or even Israel) Sometimes you can tell which is which by context; other times a proper noun is used poetically of both a person (or people) and a place.

Point taken. Is it analogous to Greek indicative and imperative overlap? We still find the grammar tagging useful. Context always.
