Abram K-J
I understand that there was, a few years ago, an Accordance User's Conference. It was before I had started using Accordance... was 2010 the last one? Any inclinations to have another one in the future?
R. Mansfield
I think David Lang jinxed it because he referred to it as the "First Annual" Users Conference a number of times ;-)
Abram K-J
Ha! Meaning... there wasn't even a Second Annual one?
R. Mansfield
I honestly don't remember. I was at the one in 2010.
Ken Simpson
OK - I remember Helen talking about the Users conference. I am pretty sure it was in January of 2010 (or close to). As far as I know there hasn’t been a second one.
Helen Brown
The first one was right after version 9 released, Dallas, September 2010. We announced a second one but got very little user interest so reluctantly canceled it. It was planned for Orlando, January 2012. It takes a lot of work to set up, and everybody is so busy developing Accordance and supporting it, that we have not attempted another. If there are interested users and ideas for topics, location, structure, please speak up. I know there are people in the company who very much want to hold another conference.
Abram K-J
Well, whenever it is, I think Accordance should put on the digital equivalent of "sword drills," where users race to accomplish certain complex tasks using Accordance.
Abram K-J
Thanks for the background, Helen. Boston in the fall is really quite lovely... not sure if that would qualify as a central location for folks, especially staff. Though Graham is close by!
Ken Simpson
Hard for me to get to, though I have close friends in Connecticut I could visit! And I love Boston!
Graham Buck
Though Graham is close by! New England FTW!
Daniel R
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Come back to DFW! In addition to a swords drill game (I think a game show style Accordance game would be fun), there could be a competition to have the best user submitted photos included in future editions of PhotoGuide, thank-you's for most implemented user corrections in Accordance modules, a concert by Joel, and specific 30 minute training sessions on everything Accordance related including one called "How to be Joe Weaks: An Intro to Scripts to Get the Most out of Your Mac and Accordance".
Abram K-J
I'd even attend for Joe Weaks and God: Why Must They Hide Their Faces From Us? Using Accordance to Find Out
