Question about info panel

Randy Cue

Recommended Posts

I have the ESVS open to Acts 15:1. I have the info panel open, if I hover the mouse over any of the topics I get nothing. The first topic is Antioch of Syria. When I hover the mouse over that topic nothing shows up in instant details. Shouldn't I get the article in my topic dictionary. I see next to the topic category it says (shift-click for verses) and that seems to work. Am I expecting something that should not happen?

Here is what help says.

More About the Topics Section

This section displays topics that have been associated with the verse.

  • Mouse-over a topic to see what resource discusses this topic in the Instant Details.
  • Click the topic to view that resource in a new zone.
  • Shift-Click on the topic to search the Text for all other verses associated with that topic. The results are displayed in a new Search tab.
  • Clicking on topics listed under Atlas or Timeline will open those resources.

The top two bullet points are not happening for me.

I suspect it may depend upon what you have installed. For the case in point I get an excerpt from the Photoguide but for Apostolic Age I get nothing. Others who things from Nave's and so on. I've not played with the setup of this to know exactly what tools take precedence.

thx

You can set which dictionary is used for this in Set Topic Pane Display. Obviously if your default is set to Latin Dictionary, the topics wont be very helpful.

Hi Helen,

I cannot find a Set Topic Pane Display. Set Info Pane Display does not appear to have a dictionary setting.

I changed my Amplify Triple-click English pref to Anchor and then things shifted a bit. It looked like it then began at whatever that title was and searched in library order until it found something that would provide an Entry for the Topic term.

Am I missing something ?

Thx

D

You are correct, Set Info Pane Display does not have a setting for the dictionary, so it uses the defined default preference in Preferences: Amplify. Sorry, I don't know what I was thinking, busy getting ready for the meetings in San Diego this week.

Thanks, Helen. That solved my problem. I now have info when I mouse over topics.
