sfarson
I'm making progress learning Hebrew. Was wondering if there are any resource recommendations that kinda offer what I'm using with my Greek studies. For example, I have a Greek Studies tab in Accordance 11 with parallel columns... The ESV, UBS4, the NIGTC, Robertson's Word Pictures (Greek) in the NT, and a Linguistic & Exegetical Key to the GNT. I would like something similar with Hebrew tools, that would scroll with the text, something providing extra insight on the Hebrew words in the current verse. Searching through the Hebrew resources available for purchase, I couldn't easily find what I was looking for. Any suggestions? Thanks! Abram K-J
The Greek NT is farther along in this regard than the Hebrew OT, unfortunately! However, there are lots of good Jewish resources to check out. The JPS Torah Commentary is good on Hebrew (at least in the Genesis volume), the Torah Modern Commentary is also excellent. Have you checked out any Hebrew grammars? You could use those in tandem (using verse references) with Hebrew text. But they don't scroll with the text--you'd have to open them in new tabs (and they don't tie), but that's easy enough. Word Biblical Commentary has some nice detail on the Hebrew text, too. To fully utilize it, you'd need to have the "Notes" section (where most of the original language stuff is) in a separate tab, as Accordance ties to the "Comment" section itself (verse-by-verse), but not also the Notes. dwhunter
Hey Abram - just wandered across this - I saw it was from 2014, so I wondered - any newer resources that you would recommend? Thanks!
Abram K-J
Others may have additional suggestions, but one new resource is the Zondervan Exegetical Commentary on the OT (formerly Hearing the Message of Scripture). Accordance doesn't carry it, but there are three volumes (Jonah, Obadiah, and Ruth) that are available in print. The Jonah volume is excellent, and the Obadiah one is also good. (I haven't looked much at Ruth yet.)
Abram K-J
I don't know how far along you are in your Hebrew endeavors, but The First Hebrew Primer is also a good resource.
