NIV11 Notes with "S" before a verse reference

Has anyone noticed that Instant Details does not display the text of a verse whose reference follows "S" in the NIV11 Notes?

For example in Rom 1:25 the NIV11 Notes has

Romans 1:25

a Isa 44:20

b Jer 10:14; 13:25; 16:19, 20

c Ro 9:5; 2Co 11:31

d S Ro 11:36

Each reference seems to be hyperlinked. When the cursor is placed over any of the above references except Ro 11:36, the text of the verse displays in Instant Details. As far as I can tell, this seems to be consistent in that no reference following "S" displays a verse in Instant Details of Accordance for Mac or the pop-up for iOS Accordance.

I've tried to find if this topic had been discussed previously, but was not successful digging up anything.

Thanks,

John S Gilliom

This topic had been discussed, but it was actually in the private beta forum. Here are the main two responses:

I'm not sure, but it seems like the "S" references is to send the reader back physically to the location in the S reference for more references that could pertain to the matters touched on in the verse.

In the first three chapters of Genesis, it seems like all the S references send you back to a previous location, tying concepts and topics together.

If that is the function, then it wouldn't be necessary to have the verse pop up in the instant details.

If you scroll up past Genesis 1:1 you will see the publishers intent for the S notes:

S see another list of references that will cover a slightly different aspect of the concept or word being studied

I guess S stands for "See"

Hope this is of some use to you.

Charles

And:

Adding to what Charles said (always seems to beat my responses!),

S does stand for 'See'. The reason it does not show up in Instant Details is that it is not referring to the bible text content of Genesis 1:3, but the footnotes tool content of 1:3. That is why when you click on the 3, it jumps to that place in the tool, rather than loading the verse.
