User Notes Switching Languages

HELP! Every time I open my user notes, the default language switches from Times New Roman to Yehudit. I definitely don't want to type in Yehudit! That being said, the only way I can see to change it is to go to Display>Font>Times New Roman. After doing this and hitting "Update," I close the window, but when I open it again it's in Yehudit. Further, every note on every verse does the same thing. In the preferences of the program, under "My User Notes," I don't have access to a "Default font"

This sounds like a bug we had in version 7.4 and Leopard. We were unable to fix it until version 8, so I recommend upgrading.

If you are using 8, check your Preferences for the Edit window to be sure that the correct font is selected as your default.

Helen,

Thanks for getting back with me. Unfortunately, I don't really see this as a solution. Accordance 8 is not a free upgrade

Accordance 8 is sooo much better on Intel and on Leopard/Snow that I really think it is a great pity that you haven't upgraded. This was a very unusual situation where Leopard introduced many font issues that we were only partially able to fix in 7. It's always worth staying current with Accordance, but extremely rare that the upgrade is needed for a bug fix. I doubt that it will recur, but Apple's new systems always present challenges for software developers.

You must run the latest 7.4.2, and you can try using a different font as your default.

I understand where you are coming from, but please try to see my point of view as well. You cannot guarantee what Apple will do with subsequent operating systems. Therefore, it's entirely feasible that they introduce more font issues (or something else) with other forthcoming OS's. I don't find it to be very comforting that a company that I am giving my money would abandon support for the previous version, even though there are KNOWN issues yet to be resolved. I understand the need to stay current with software – believe me, I do with most any software – however after going over the list of added features to Acc.8, I didn't see a real reason to upgrade. For software companies (I work for one), it's usually not a good policy to market the upgrade as "Fixing some of the problems of the old one." Especially in this case because the Accordance package of software is not cheap, and there are other, "competitors" offering similar packages. It would seem that in order to keep, and even grow your client base, OakTree would go to greater lengths to make sure they are putting forth the greatest software/support they can.

Cheers,

Michael

I understand the concerns Michael is sharing. Upgrading to the latest version of Accordance, however, is quite inexpensive (only$49). I've discovered my investment in upgrading to Accordance 8 has been more than worth the price tag. The numerous added features in version 8 greatly increase my ability to harness the power of Accordance for Bible study.

God bless,

Sean

Thanks, Sean. Actually it's $39 less any applicable discount, when you upgrade from version 7.

It took us quite a while to find and fix this bug even in 8, and i do not think that the fix can be applied to the earlier code of 7 since many underlying code upgrades preceded it. This is the first time, in 15 years that I recall that a significant bug required a paid upgrade. If you want Accordance to stay in business you will be glad to support our efforts to add features and stay current with Apple, by paying for an occasional upgrade.
