Specification of diagramming system used in Greek Diagrams module

Hi,

 

Where I can find specification (or some kind of detailed description) of the diagramming system used in Greek Diagrams module ?

 

Also there is other module of diagrams: Grammatical syntax add-on . In it a diagramming system is being used, which is completely different from that in Greek diagrams module. Where is specification of the diagrams used in Grammatical syntax add-on?

The other diagramming is a sentence diagramming system that was taught at one time in the US. It may still be in some places. I have found places on the web where you can get the basics of it such as http://www.english-grammar-revolution.com/diagramming-sentences.html. It ultimately derives if I recall from work by Reed and Kellog. I think you can find information on their work on the web also.

I read this manual: Getting Started with Syntax, but it is very superficial. The pages http://www.english-g...-sentences.html provide some description of Reed - Kellog diagramming, but not exactly what is used by the author of Greek Diagrams module. Isn't there explanations provided by the authors of Greek Diagrams module and Grammatical syntax add-on where they explay what approach to diagramming was used exactly in those modules?

Probably the best explanation for the system used in Accordance would be Dr. John McLean's book A Handbook for Grammatical Diagramming Based on Philippians. This used to be available on the Gramcord website, but I don't know if it is anymore. At some point I think it would be great to have an Accordance module or at least a key explaining the system.

Thanks, Steve. I will read the McLean's book. But it's really strange that the authors of diagrams modules did not provide exhaustive explanations of the diagramming systems they chose.

1. Sentence Diagram23

A sentence diagram is a visual way of representing the relationship among its words, illustrating relationships by the position of each word and the kind of adjoining line. The method is often called the Reed-Kellogg system, based on an 1877 book that first explained the method.24 Their rules for sentence diagramming are very specific, enabling those familiar with it to see another’s interpretation of a sentence at a glance. The downside is that the rules are too numerous to do more than offer a glimpse of this method here. If you’d like to learn it more thoroughly, consult the source in the footnote for this subsection. Other good sources are available on the internet, for example here: English and Greek.

 

Footnote 23 though gives reference to another book and the English link in the section is ok

I see a lot of posts about this topic, because in we didn't had this in my class.

 

But in Accordance they use some other/different signs than all other sentence diagram teachers.

 

It would be helpful if OakTree .... Na, you know what I mean:-)
