I just purchased the IVP essential collection. I was disappionted to see that it came with accordance version 6.0. It is supposed to be compatible with OS X. It works with Leopard, but has some issues. My question is is there anyway to upgrade so the accordance software works better?

I think you ran into this issue because it is not economically feasible for the folks at Accordance to remaster every CD every time there is a program upgrade. If you own other Accordance products, you might already have Accordance 8. If you do not own any other Accordance products, you can upgrade the program to version 8 for $49. Info is available here.

On the other hand, it might be worth your while to consider one of the lower end Library 8 packages. The Introductory level is only $59.

If you purchase verion 8 (program only) now, that price will be credited toward your purchase of a Library 8 or Scholars 8 package purchase later. (There might be a time limit on that, I can't remember)

Actually we did remaster the IVP Collection earlier this year, with minor corrections and version 7.4.2. You must have bought it elsewhere. The newer CD is $10 to those who own version 7 (or 8). Otherwise, I agree with Lorinda that for full compatibility, especially if you have an Intel Mac, you will want to upgrade to version 8 either alone or by adding The Library Intro or Scholar's Intro level.

That's too bad. I just bought the software not a month ago, and it was the only version available (I think I bought it straight from IVP). So to make sure I understand, I need to pay another $49 to upgrade the software so it'll work right? Is this a download or do I need to order another disk? Also, is there a chance that the company I bought it from owes me a refund. This may not be a question for you but it seems like when newer versions of software come out that the older versions are phased out and are no longer sold. It just feels like I'm buying the same software twice. Oh, and one last thing, what does the new version of IVP cost? Thanks for your time.

Even if you had the latest version of the IVP CD you would still need to pay to upgrade to version 8. I am sure that IVP are aware that we remastered the CD but since they buy it in quantity from us, and the module updates are relatively minor, they may have decided to continue selling their old stock. I do not think they owe you a refund.

The new version of IVP is the same price as the old one, list $180, sale $144.

Most people end up adding one of our primary collections even if they start with the IVP since that collection is mainly commentaries and dictionaries, it does not offer a range of translations, texts with Strong's numbers, Greek or Hebrew resources, nor our parallels. You are not buying the software over again, you are adding a bunch of new materials and getting an upgrade at the same time.

If you only want to upgrade the version at this time, please contact the sales office directly and ask for a courtesy discount in light of the circumstances, and refer to this post on the Forum.

Thank you Helen for your time. I didn't realize the basic collection came with so much more. It's not required for my classes, but I may go that route. Thank you again.
