Paul Daunno
I have Accordance on an iMac, iPad and Win7 laptop. I have user notes and tools files with and without a .accx extension. I believe the .accx ones are needed for Windows but am confused as to what is being used where. Can someone provide an explanation of what the expected behavior of these files is? I would like to do a bit of clean up and organizing but am unsure what files to touch vs. not touch.
Mike Garrity
The support of the .acc4 and .acc7 extensions were added in version 10.3 as cross platform way of identifiing user note and user tool files. Previously, on the Mac, these were identified with Mac specific meta data (no extension) and you would not be able to install these files in Accordance for Windows. Since Accordance for Windows is not able to Dropbox sync your user content yet, you will have to add the extension to these files before manually installing in Windows or sharing with other Windows users. Once Accordance for Windows supports Dropbox sync then the existance of the extension will not matter because Accordance has already identified the files. I recommend waiting for Dropbox support in Windows so that you don't have to worry about the file extensions. Finally, the next version of Accordance for iOS will hide the user note and user tool extensions in the Library. Hope this helps to clarify, Mike

Paul Daunno
Thank you Mike an Ken. So if I have a file called BibleStudyNotes and another file BibleStudyNotes.acc4 does this mean that I can keep the .acc4 file and remove the other one? I see both (on iOS at least) and am not sure which one it's actually using.
Ken Simpson
Hi Paul, yes provided there is not unique information in the one you are about to delete... I would rename one fully (with the acc4 extension) until I was sure that I had copied out all my relevant unique notes.
