tony10000
Has anybody done this? The Toshiba Encore WT8-A32 8" Tablet 32GB Windows 8.1 looks pretty interesting for $200!
R. Mansfield
Tony, I now have a Dell Venue 8 Pro. For Accordance on a Windows tablet, I strongly recommend one that has an active digitizer so that the stylus can be used for crossover highlighting. I'm not 100% certain, but I don't believe the Toshiba has that.
tony10000
What do you mean by "crossover highlighting"? How is the speed on the Dell?
tony10000
Rick, I found your video on You Tube on the MS Surface Pro. Now, I see what you mean...
R. Mansfield
Tony, sorry I didn't answer your question above, but I'm glad you found my earlier video. I still plan on creating one that is specifically geared toward tips for using Accordance on tablets.
tony10000
That will be great!
Abram K-J
This is an old thread, but I'm using a Dell Venue 8 Pro 5000 for a while--a loaner/tester version for review. Rick or others: any tips, setup ideas, or best practices to recommend? And am I correct that I can't get an app version of Accordance, but have to run it from the desktop side of the tablet, as the full program? Michel Gilbert
And am I correct that I can't get an app version of Accordance, but have to run it from the desktop side of the tablet, as the full program? Yes. If it turns out I'm wrong, I'll edit my answer to No.
Ken Simpson
And am I correct that I can't get an app version of Accordance, but have to run it from the desktop side of the tablet, as the full program? Abram. seems like a slightly strange thing to say. The only reason I can think of for me to own a windows tablet over an iPad is that Accordance can run as the full shebang. I regularly envy that (I know - bad for my soul) to the point that I bought a little TransformerBook T100, and hate it just doesn’t work for me. It’s so close to being good, but just not. Accordance almost works beautifully on it, but all the UI elements are too small for even my somewhat small fingers. A stylus is pretty mandatory, and the better stylus’ (I can’t remember what Rick called them - charge coupled?) don’t work on it (the T100) and most of the capacitive stylus’ are no better than my fingers. All in all a frustration, but the possibilities of having full A11 on a tablet are really nice. If only Apple allowed that then maybe I would be happier. But then maybe all the UI issues I mentioned here would be exactly the same. Oh well. Edited November 19, 2014 by Ken Simpson
R. Mansfield
Rick or others: any tips, setup ideas, or best practices to recommend? I have an upcoming blog and video partially completed that focuses just on tips for running Accordance on a Windows tablet. I don't think I will have time to finish it this week. Maybe next week.
