bobnlyne
I'm absolutely new to Accordance. I've read the tutorials and done a topic search on this but still haven't found an answer to my question, which is: How can I read the all the information displayed in the instant details box if there are more words than there is room for? When I hover over a particular word and press the command key I get the expanded explanation of the word in the instant details box. Okay so far. But when the length of the discussion in the box exceeds the size of the window, how can I scroll thru that entry so I can finish reading it? If I move the pointer at all a different word with its expanded details will pop up in the window. I know I must be able to read thru to the end, because why else would there be something there to read if there wasn't a way to finish reading it? As I said, I have waded thru the tutorial trees and done searches in the help forum (to the extent that I know how to search for it), and am getting somewhat frustrated because I can't find the answer. I know it must be an easy thing to do, and I apologize for taking your time, but I would appreciate some help with this. Thank you so much, grandbob
Dan Langston old account
If you hold down the shift key when your cursor is over the link that provides the information, Then a COPY icon (looks like a clipboard) on the left side of the pane becomes active. Click it. The information is then copied into your clipboard to paste into a note or word processor. You can also change the spacing on the instant details and area inside your pane and arrange it vertically or horizontally. Just remember to hold down the SHIFT key to freeze instant details for whatever you want to do with it.
Λύχνις Δαν
Click and hold on the link and you will get a popup with a scroll bar if the amount of content warrants it. Thx D
Joel Brown
Bob, if you also triple click the word, that will open your tool and let you read, copy, and more. Generally instant details is designed for the very quick lookup, with triple click being the 'next step'.
Nicholous Rogers
Bob, if all you want is to copy the results in the "instant details" window, after you've frozen the "instant details," in either method describe above; you can right-click the word you were looking up, then you select copy as>Instant details. This is the beauty of Accordance; there are many different levels of information you can glean on one word, phrase, etc., etc. Welcome to the Accordance family ... you'll find lots of folks to answer your questions and guide you along your way; whether they're Accordance employees or fellow users. bobnlyne
Many thanks to all for your quick responses. Actually, I had found and tried these techniques in the tutorials. But they didn't accomplish just what I was trying to do, which is get a quick read that displayed all the details. Example: In John 1:29, the word for Lamb. When I hover over and hit the command key, it expands the information, but there isn't enough room within the details box to display all the details. Something that has worked is making that instant details window larger, but of course I lose some of the text above. And I have encountered some words for which the expanded detail is so long that I can reduce the text box to near zero and the detail box still isn't large enough. This happens on my laptop. I haven't encountered this (yet?) on my iMac because that screen has so much more real estate. Is this all to say that I can't get a true "quick read" of all the details, and must do the copy-and-paste into my word process to be able to read all that's there? If so, then that's okay, and I am content with it. I just wanted to know. Thanks again, grandbob
JonathanHuber
No, it's not your only option. As Daniel suggested above, you can click and hold or Option+Click (on a Mac; I'm not sure what the Windows equivalent would be)to get a pop-up with the same information. Holding Command while Option+Clicking will give you the same popup but with the expanded information. Another alternative is to check the Instant Details preference "Automatically fade when floating" and use a floating ID window that you can expand to be much larger, enabling you to see more information, but it will also fade away so it doesn't permanently obscure your view. Personally, when I'm trying to see a long bit in instant details, i use the option+click popup, and it works really well.
Larry Wing
The Windows equivalent to Option+Click on a Mac is Ctrl+Alt+Click. Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even know I could do that.
Anthony Sepulveda
Thanks for reminding me of the [Ctrl+]Alt+Click tip. Saves just a tidbit of time, instead of the usual click-and-hold.

I'm not sure I've ever used that particular way of copying ID, but I will now! Great tip.
