Here are two screenshots — first one is BibleReader 5.1.8 opened to 1John 2:28 with the ESV Study Bible open in the split window, second screenshot is of Accordance 1.4.3. Look how much text can be viewed in each application. I tried to use similar size fonts. On the small iPhone screen there is huge difference. Wish Accordance used screen real estate as usefully as BibleReader.

It might be helpful to others to note that you are not using the default BibleReader setup to achieve this.

Scott.

Thanks, Guntis!

We've noticed the same thing ourselves. We're working to minimize the distractions when reading, which actually means more screen is given over to displaying the text. I don't want to say too much, but I think folks will be really pleased with our next full rev.

Even on the iPad, where you have a lot more screen real-estate, I wish I could control the "margins" allotted to the left and right side, especially around the split bar (more-so when in a landscape orientation), because it seems as though a lot of space is lost here. Accordance for iOS has come so far in a relatively short period of time, I don't want to nit-pick, this just a small suggestion not a complaint.

Sooo.....

I know that you are hush hush on future developments, but we are Apple fans and Apple users. Translation: we have been trained by the big dog in a Pavlovian fashion to build anticipation for future, upcoming goodness, and are always eager as the dawn of something new approaches.

Knowing that you are bound by confidentiality as to WHAT Accordance 10 will be, can you maybe humor us as to WHEN we might be seeing that "next full rev" you so nonchalantly referred to?

Just looking for another reason to get all excited about Accordance!

Thanks!

[chuckle] All we need is to develop a rumor mill like Apple's! Then the stock will rise. We'll all get rich! Pizza with the works for company dinners every Friday at lunch!!! :-)

Seriously, we are trying to balance two different objectives: 1) To release incremental updates at regular, not-too-long-apart intervals, and 2) To offer substantive updates at each point, adding features that meet our iOS user's needs (as well as a few surprises!).

While we all knew our users would never be satisfied with a "simple reader" (the original request), we've been surprised (and delighted) with the reception our iOS app has received. The iPad in particular is finding its way into the pulpit and the classroom, not just the living room. It's been a real revolution. The result is that our users are are using the iOS app in ways we never anticipated (like preaching from the pulpit or teaching in a classroom). In other words, the goalposts keep moving! Rather than just being an "add-on benefit" for those with our desktop software, the Accordance iOS app has become a force in its own right. It's a nice problem to have, even if it presents us with a new challenge [every time we meet as an iOS committee].

Hang in there. Good things are coming.

Dr J,

I think that you could pull off the secrecy bit! The Accordance following is strong and devout. There shall most definitely be pizza!! Seriously, what you have produced for us over the last year in terms of mobile has been nothing short of amazing. You are right, however. We blinked and the iPad has become the primary computer for many of us. I am one who has definitely made the iPad central to my teaching! No more printing! Live searching during Bible study! It doesn't get much better.

I thank you very much for responding to my post, and I am eager to see how you shall dazzle us next. Thank you also, for your Podcasts. Please keep doing them, they are simply fabulous.
