David Foster
Hi, I was just setting up a new workspace tonight dedicated to the EBC-Revised. I put the ESVS in the middle and the EBC-Revised commentary on the left and the EBC Notes on the right of the text. However, the commentary nor the notes are 'flush' with the text, that is the verse numbering doesn't match up. I back the text up until it's all the way to Genesis 1:1... and in theory, the commentary and notes should also start at the same point (since they're scrolling together). But, the commentary starts at 2b and the notes at Gen. 1:2... So could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong and help me line up all three? I've attached a screen shot to help out... Thanks. Abram K-J
Interesting--I don't have EBC-R, but I have ESV and the old EBC, and confirmed the same thing you did. I think it's because that 2 in ESVS (for Gen. 1:2) is at the end of the top line, making the parallel pane think it should also go to/stay at verse 2--maybe? At any rate, when you scroll all the way back up to Gen. 1:1 in ESV, EBC stays at 2b, which I don't recall seeing happen otherwise in Accordance. (I.e., it should all go back to Gen. 1.1 if you scroll back to the top.) However, when I type in Gen. 1.1 to the search bar, the EBC properly follows the ESV. At any rate, one thing I tried, after mirroring your setup as best I could, is adjusting the font size (bigger) so that the verse reference for Gen. 1.2 is on the second line--then the issue wasn't at play, at least as a temporary workaround. However... also interesting is that when you have ESVS at 1:2, the EBC (and in your case the EBC-R?) is skipping over the 2a note and going right to 2b. Yes it also works if you have the Bible set to 'Separate Verses' instead of 'Paragraphs' Also the issue is the same with all commentaries if they have Gen 1:1 as a separate section. It happens anywhere where the verse is shorter than a line. The other solution is to narrow the Bible section to reduce the problem so only the very shortest verses are affected. David Foster
Thanks guys. I changed the verse settings and it worked... almost. It brought the EBC-R up to a highlighted/blue "1" but it was the verse reference in the Note sections, not the commentary section which is still up above (see screen shots below)... it seems like Accordance thinks that the '1' in the note section of the commentary is the actually 'commentary' Gen. 1:1 So we're almost there, but no quite... I still have to scroll back up a ways to get to the actual Gen. 1:1 in the commentary. PS The EBC-R Notes, which are in the right hand column, are lined up fine.
