comparing consistency between two texts

Hi:

I am listening this afternoon to a debate between Dr. Bart Ehrman and Dr. James White from Jan 2009. Dr. White claims that even the most "extreme" traditions (such as the WEstcott-Hort manuscript vs the Textus Receptus) agree in 95% of the variants, that we can be confident in 95% of the text of the New Testament. Dr. White said in his talk that "you can do a search with Bibleworks" that proves his point. Can such a search be done with Accordance (even if the results do not show what Dr. White states)? I just want to get to the truth of the matter.

Thanks for any help

Jonna

Simply put the texts in parallel panes and click Compare text to see the differences highlighted. You can set the Preferences to compare words, lemmas, or tags. You can also get a report on the differences in the Display menu.

I played around with Accordance (along with some other programs) to figure out how to run textual comparisons. I have some more info at this blog post, and you can click through to a full review and comparison.
