Analysis Window - Saving as Text

Since upgrading to Accordance 7.4 I seem to be having a problem saving the results of the Analysis window as a text file. I noticed the problem while trying to use FlashCord. When saving the Analysis window as a text file, the space between the root and the gloss disappears. This then causes problems when trying to use FlashCord with the saved text file. Is there a simple fix to this issue?

I am not seeing this. What text are you using and what are your Greek and Hebrew export setting?

Calvin,

Can you post a snippet of the resulting text file to have a look at?

Thanks,

Joe

Dear Helen and Joe,

My settings were as follows:

Export as Yehudit (no change)

Strip characters (none)

Reverse direction of Hebrew characters

As I mentioned, the Analysis window looks fine. But the text file is missing the spaces.

Here is a portion of the file.

Total number of verses = 3966

(total number of verses displayed = 3966)

[COUNT 70-78] (4782 total words)

Number of different forms = 65:

lEa (la)El (name) = 78

Does anyone see the problem?

Couple questions to start out:

Are you saving as plain text or rtf?

Do you get the same missing-space-phenomenon when you copy and paste the text from the analysis window?

In what program are you opening and viewing the resulting file?

Do you get the same results when opening it up in TextEdit, TextWrangler, Word?

1. Saving as plain text and rtf both produce the same phenomenon.

2. Copy and Paste seems to eliminate the space issue, save for the last entry.

3. The same results appear in both TextEdit and Word.

  • 7 months later...

A recent post led me to pull out Flashcord and start running Hebrew vocabulary. My first attempt, with inflected forms, worked without a hitch.

But when I created a list of lemmas occurring 100+ times, I started running into problems: certain words showed up in Flashcord as a long string of Hebrew characters unrelated to the root. Some searching here led me to this thread.

Sure enough, the lines that are messing up are missing a space after before the English gloss. But in my case it is intermittant. Some lines have the space, and work fine, others don't.

I'm using Accordance 8.

Lorinda
