kdrussaw
What is the number to the right of Hebrew words? I know the number to the left is the Strong's number, but I can't remember/figure out what the other number is. As an example, the citation Elohim has 430 to its left (Strong's) and 2570 to its right. Thanks to Accordance, I know 2570 is not the number of hits (2602) or verses (2248)). Now I'm stumped. Good question! It looks to me like it is supposed to be the approximate number of hits. From the BDB Complete preface (p.xxi) ... "NOTE: Scripture citations in small superior letters and figures, following n.m. or n.f., refer to some passage where the gender is exhibited. Small inferior names of conjugations, etc., denote the (approximate) number of occurrences of such words, conjugations, etc." For what it's worth, an Accordance search for Heb. אָב ("father") in BHS-W4 finds 1193 hits. BDB Complete lists 1191, while CDCH lists 1215 [The other two numbers following it are the number of hits in Ben Sirah and the Dead Sea Scrolls, respectively. If there is a fourth number, it is gives the occurrences in Hebrew Inscriptions.].
