Search using (x, y)

I'm using some of the search techniques I learned from watching the webinar on search commands, in part in order to answer David Lang's challenge in the Accordance blog. But I've run into a snag. Any time I try to do a search using (x, y), to specify two or more options for letter/character, I get an error message that a closed parenthesis is missing. Here are some of the searches I've tried:

g?(o, e)t

f?(e, o)?(=1)d

These are copied straight from Dr. J's notes.

I'm using Accordance 8.1.3 on a PPC Mac running 10.4.11. The other searches dr. J covers appears to function correctly for me.

I've tried quitting and restarting Accordance, logging out and then back in again, and I'm pretty sure I've done a complete restart since this started happening.

Any ideas?

Lorinda

Sorry we missed that error in DR. J's examples. As our Help files state:

b?(eu)t finds only the words "bet" or "but.

In other words you do not need to separate the alternate letters for a character wildcard with a comma.

Thanks for such a quick response, Helen. That works just as it should.

Blessings,
