Numbers in Root-Search result

Elijah

Recommended Posts

When searching for the root of (for example) the word ὅριον in GNT-T the result is +ὅρος_2.

To get the root I pick any word of the search result and right click "search for" - "Root".

Another example: ἐξουσία results in (+ἐκ, +εἰμί_1)

I was wandering what the number means after the root-word.

The underscore is something like a long dash in accordance.

The number is used for homographs, i.e. words spelled the same but with different meaning. This is very common in the Hebrew Bible, but also occurs in Greek. In this case the two forms you pointed out only occur in one form in the GNT, but there are probably alternate forms that appear in other writings and we use the same word list for them all.
