Timothy Jenney
Does any one have some suggestions for good utilities for when teaching with Accordance for Windows? I am specifically looking for utilities that highlight the cursor or a portion of the screen, automatically show the computer keys as they are pressed, and/or allow one to draw highlights, arrows, rectangles, and other annotations on top of application windows. I'm very familiar with these kinds of things for Mac, but not for Windows. Thanks!
Brian K. Mitchell
Would this be live training or a video podcast? If, it is a podcast then I would recommend camtasia studio 8. On TechSmith's website you may download a trial version for 30 days.
Timothy Jenney
Thank you! Actually, I own ScreenFlow for Mac, which has largely taken the place of Camtasia for Windows. I was thinking more of things like Mouseposé (a cursor highlighting tool) and Ink2Go or Ultimate Pen (screen annotation tools). What do PC users typically use? Note: I actually just completed a podcast on "Teaching Tips and Handy Apps," which focused on Mac users. That's not to say we can't do one later for PC users, though. Brian K. Mitchell
Here are a few ideas: There is a program called pointer focus that may do much of what Mouseposé does: http://www.pointerfocus.com/index.html and another called Presentation Assisatant http://www.presentation-assistant.com/ KeyPosé See a video of it here: http://jungsbluth.de/magnus/blog/keypose/keypose.html Or, you can write a script for Key input callouts: see http://www.windowslinuxosx.com/q/answers-show-keys-on-screen-426583.html Now, I am going to check out that new video of yours.
Timothy Jenney
Oh, very good, thank you. I wish we had had this conversation before I produced the podcast!

RyanQuey
I realize this is an old thread, but I recently found OpenBoard https://openboard.ch/index.en.html It's open source (you can find the source code on Github) which is nice, and totally free. Doesn't have cursor highlighting, except for a "laser pointer mode" which requires constantly holding down the mouse button. Also doesn't have keystroke capture. But it does have basic whiteboard-style annotation, which is what I mostly want for presentations in the first place.
