Parsing question

I'll choose just one example. If you go to the Josephus module, Antiquities 16:2. Near the end of the verse the definite article appears- ??? (twn). When I put my cursor over it, it is parsed as a masculine genitive plural article. This is all fine and good. But now select the word, and click on parse under Language in the resource palette. There are now 3 parsings for the article.

 

I recognize that this form can be more than one parsing, but this is an example out of many where more than one parsing is given from the parser in the palette. How come this happens?

The reason for showing more than one option is that any of the variants is a possible choice in this context. I am no scholar, but I think they mean that the article may refer to either of the two following participles. Variants are not shown just because they are possible parsings of the word, but only when they are alternatives for the word in this passage.

 

The word (Variant) shows in the Instant Details and is your clue that there are variants which are best shown by selecting at least the entire phrase and clicking parsing.
