Lorinda H. M. Hoover
I was working today with the Sources highlights file found on Accordance exchange. I ran into trouble when I tried to select a portion of a verse to copy: I couldn't see the blue selection highlighting that happens (in any Mac program) when you select text. It would show up in white spaces, but not over the text. At first, I though that selection wasn't working at all. Then I realized it was related to the highlighting. I changed highlight files, and had no troubling selecting or seeing selecting highlighting. I switched back and discovered that selecting and copying worked fine, with the exception that there was no way to see what had been selected. I was able to address the issue by changing the shape of the highlighting styles. The original Sources used the widest possible solid band for all of the various highlight styles. By changing those to a thinner band, I was able to see the selection highlighting above and below the Sources highlighting. I think, though, this is a bug. In most Mac apps, if the text is highlighted by the program, selection highlighting overrides, or at list is painted over the "native" highlighting. I double checked this is both NeoOffice and Pages, and found that this to be true. I don't have access to the Windows machine at church today, but I'll try to remember to check there tomorrow to see if the same thing happens.
