Organizing Files on a Mobile Device

I have been on the hunt for the best way to organize my files on the iPhone and iPad. The files I have in mind are sermons, topical notes, and a couple of spreadsheet files that I keep a preaching journal and income tracker in. These files are in Word, Pages, and Numbers.

On the iPhone I used DocsToGo. I spent more time setting the thing up than using it. It was fine for using as a quick reference when I needed some info out of my topical notes. However, I found it kind of awkward to try and preach out of. So I stopped trying there.

However, the iPad has changed things a bit. I can now carry my notes in and preach from the iPad. I don't have to worry about finding a printer anymore right before church. Being an itinerant evangelist I am presented with that challenge quite often. You just never know what your going to find when you arrive somewhere.

I like having all my files on hand and easily accessible. I am still trying to pare down a good method of organization and keeping my files synced all together.

Here are the apps that I have found handy.

GoodReader-

Some Pros:

-Handles just about any file type and pretty easy to use.

-Connects to MobileMe, DropBox and others.

-You can transfer files over wifi or usb ( with some limitations via usb)

-Allows subfolders

Cons:

-You cannot edit documents in it.

-Cannot transfer folders from computer to GoodReader using USB (though you can transfer folders the other direction)

FileBrowser -

Some Pros:

-Allows you to open your files in Pages for editing

Cons:

-Only allows single file transfers (as far as I could find)

-Tedious to set up folders after files have been transferred

I just discovered DropBox, it seems like great method to keep my folders up to date with edits and additions.

How do you keep your files synced and organized on your mobile device? Any tips, hints or tricks?

Thanks!
