jhancock61
Many of you have the Essential IVP Reference Collection V.2 modules? If so, how useful is it in everyday Bible study for the layperson? Thanks! Jeff
Timothy Jenney
It is absolutely awesome, Jeff! I required it (or at least three volumes of it) of students in my New Testament Introduction class at Regent. I wanted them to have access to the various articles on books and subjects in the NT, but the bundle also includes a Bible background commentary for each testament, a single-volume Bible dictionary, a a single-volume whole Bible commentary, a Bible atlas, and a host of other resources. This is one of the best values available for Bible study resources. Do it!
PhilT
Jeff, I have all these in book form, would not be without them, they have so much info in. I am a layperson like you and I always go to these books as first call. Currently saving so can pick the accordance module up with them all in. Timothy Jenney
Phil, a number of us started buying these in book form, then switched to Accordance modules. We sold our books to help cover the cost of the modules. Just a thought...
Serpentium
I just bought it --- I can already tell I love them
Abram K-J
If anyone is sitting on the fence about this collection, I am pretty sure $99 is as low as it's ever been in Accordance (at least since I started using Accordance in 2012). There's so much here, and I use something from this collection almost every week for preaching and teaching. Accordance has set up the modules so they're easy to navigate and search through. Highly recommended.
Timothy Jenney
I agree! I regularly recommend this set as the best value, dollar-for-dollar, Accordance offers—and that's at the normal $144 price. $99 for this set is a steal!!!
Serpentium
The only downside is...there are too many dictionaries, and using iOS is time-consuming, because I cannot check them at once. And some of them are in different categories, so I need to switch from library. Nonetheless, they worth each single dollar in my view, and each single second spent in using them. Abram K-J
True enough--have you set up a saved workspace already in a desktop version of Accordance? That's primarily how I use the dictionaries. I also have them grouped into a grouping I set up that I can search on a computer. Maybe you've already done this....

The truth is that I work far from home, and I spend family time when I go back home, so I prefer to use Accordance on my iPad all the time, in fact I love when my train to the office has delays, because I have enough time to complete my daily study on it. I have great big hope that the iOS app will get even better with time. I can see from the answer given on the forum by Helen and other programmer, that they are focusing more and more on it.
Λύχνις Δαν
I was just looking over the IVP Collection on the website and the image of the New Bible Atlas contain shows a typo in the text. Well it looks like a scan issue that was missed. I , obviously don't own it so cannot check if this is current, but perhaps someone who does could check if the "pie fists" of Modein are still in the text of the module. Thx D
Abram K-J
Ah, yes, old "Pie Fists," brother of "The Hammer."
Abram K-J
(I've confirmed "pie fists" is still in the text, and have reported it, even though I quite liked that imagery....)
Λύχνις Δαν
Thanx for that - agreed great imagery but likely not historically accurate
Elijah
can anybody tell if accordance offers the current 2nd edition of the IVP Bible Background Commentary? I guess V.2 is just the internal version for accordance.
Abram K-J
Right--that new edition is not yet in Accordance.
