Back Up Problems

I typically do a "time machine" back up every week or so but I also copy my "accordance" folder to a usb flash drive. Up until now this has worked flawlessly but here lately it no longer works In fact as soon as I drag the accordance folder icon to the icon on my desktop for the usb flash drive (labeled "back up") I get this error:

I suggest you simply rename the folder and create a new one. then copy to it the files and folder you need. Perhaps taht will fix the problem.

The problem is not with your Accordance folder you're backing up. Recreating it will only postpone the problem for a bit. The problem is that your external drive is formatted with the FAT/windows format. The invisible .files in Mac's native HFS+ format cause this error when copying large files onto a FAT/Dos formatted disk.

The solution is to reformat the Flash drive on your Mac to Mac OS Extended. Use Disk Utility to do that. This will kill Windows compatibility for the drive, so if you need that, here is a workaround, as well as more in-depth info on the bug.
