Sets and Workspaces: Unlocking the value of my modules

I find I have three problems with really realizing the value of the modules I've purchased from accordance:

 

1. I don't know the use(s) of the modules I own

 

2. Even after I've invested the time to become familiar with a module, if I don't use it regularly, I completely forget 95% of everything I learned.

 

3. Search All returns too many results to go through for simple focused questions

 

Essentially, I either get back too much unfocused results, or not enough results because I don't know where to look (how is easy with my training dvd).

 

As a result of these two problems, I am sure that I'm missing a lot of value from what I have when I try to do the following:

 

* Search for content on a topic

* Search for diagrams and other graphics (I had no idea net notes had those great graphics!)

* Search for historical context for a verse/person/place/thing

* Search for meaning or definition (i.e. which dictionaries or encyclopedias to use)

 

The latest accordance blog entry on creating a workspace to unlock that value to find graphic resources by a dedicated workspace. I think these workspaces, specifically the modules he included, are a kind of resource in and of themselves!

 

I am asking for you to please provide workspaces, tool sets, text sets, ranges and markers as part of the core product.

 

I'm sure there will be some things that show up in your workspaces that I don't have in my library. I'm a product manager for a software company, so my mind goes to how you might use this to help people find more that they would like to purchase or put on their wishlists. A feature beneficial to both Oaktree and the user to show those tabs with content that explains the module (like your current website content), allows me to purchase it or put it on my wishlist, and provides an excerpt of relevant content (the only thing you don't have today).

In the last line of the above quote, you mention one way of solving your problem. When you open a Search All (cmd-f), you can "Define Group" to narrow the sources searched down to a more manageable, controlled list of sources. In fact, I rarely do a true Search All. I am almost always using one of my defined groups. I do this because, for my needs, there are several modules that come with the packages that I simply never use and am uninterested in finding any hits there.

 

I have different groups for different purposes. I have ones for searching "Journals and Bible Dictionaries," "Grammars, Lexicons, and Bible Notes (e.g., NET Notes)," "Commentaries," "Ancient Text," and "All Scholarly Sources" (the latter I have filled with a mixture of some of the former groups; certain journals, dictionaries, lexicons, grammars, etc).

 

If you are looking for quick reference I have found the "Pocket Dictionaries" in the IVP Dictionary set especially helpful for various terms and concepts that I need a quick reminder on.
