Best way to share user tools with Friends?

I recently tried to send a friend a bible study in User Tool format with Accordance. He was unable to open it, but I have no idea why (I checked permissions, had him send it back and reopened it myself, etc.). He was using an earlier version of Accordance (still v8.x) and he's not on Snow Leopard, but is on Leopard.

 

The error I get is:

"The text "<myusertoolnamehere>" is not currently available to Accordance"

 

Is there a set of guidelines or rules for sharing User Tools and Notes with other accordance users? Anyone have a clue how I can address this particular error?

There should be no problem sharing user tools and notes in this way, but since we have recently made improvements to the functionality of the user tools, it is quite possible that he needs to upgrade to the latest 8.3.2 (free is he has 8) in order to open and read your module without problems and without corrupting it.

 

I do find that the icon (i.e. creator type) is cometimes lost when such files are emailed, so it is best to zip them first.

Upgrade to latest was completed. Zipped the file after first failed attempt for just that reason. Still no luck. Anything else?

I am not following. Now you send him a file that works on your Accordance and he cannot open it even in 8.3.2? Where does he put it and how does he open it?

I think I've figured it out... it seems he downloaded, but didn't actually run the upgrade. Consider my question closed
