I live and minister in India, and work among a Hindi speaking people. I am requesting you make the Hindi translation available for Accordance, and inter linear with links to Mounce would be an even greater help. But at the very least, the Hindi bible. There are two translations: IBP and BSI. Most Christians now use IBP, as it is today's hindi, and BSI is the equivalent of the KJV. India is in a famine of resources and good materials, please help.

Hi CJ,

I am not in procurement, but do you know:

1. Who would hold the copyright to either of these texts.

2. Is there an e-text available of either or both these texts,

Thanks

1) For the IBP Bible, the "Indian Bible Publishers" hold the copyright. This Bible is also called the Pavitra (Holy) Bible.

2) I believe there is a digital text available, but I am not sure if one of the texts would be available online.

The IBP is a very small organization, perhaps even working out of houses, so they may be more than willing to let you have usage rights to the digital copy.

  • 1 year later...

Since Hindi has the fourth-largest number of native speakers of all Earth's languages (about 310,000,000 people), I think cjhuddle would hardly be alone in wanting an Accordance Bible text module in that language. Naturally, basic study resources should follow. BTW, Logos does not presently address this need, either. I urge others who minister in India  to speak up for the sake of training pastors in more remote parts of India.
