johnburnett
when i upgraded to version 11, the program asked me whether i wanted it to rearrange the resources in my library into what it thought was a more coherent organization. I thought, sure, i'll try it out, and did. Now i have a lot more categories (folders), and most of it makes pretty good sense. However, i want to put Parallels closer to the top of the Tools list and put MT-LXX Parallels in the Parallels folder (who'd a-thunk?) rather than in Semitic Studies, and other tweaks that make sense within my work flow. I was able to move the useless Other Books folder closer to the bottom, place some items in other folders, and so forth. But Parallels, the bottom item in the list of Tools, will not move, nor will it accept any new content. So i'm stuck with it being below the bottom of my screen most of the time. Also, I really do want MT-LXX Parallels to be in "Parallels" because that's how I think of them. You know, as "parallels". So how do i change this? Thanx. R. Mansfield
Parallels (and its content) is the one folder that cannot be modified--at least not right now.
johnburnett
would it be asking too much to ask why? That seems really absurd.
R. Mansfield
I'm not a programmer, so I cannot give the exact specifics. Maybe Joel will jump in here. However, if you've opened any of the titles under Parallels, you will see that they are a different kind of title than your other ones. No doubt this contributes to their "quarantined" status. johnburnett
what do you mean, "opened any of the titles under Parallels"? Just to click on them? i did move MT-LXX Parallels to a position just *above* the Parallels folder, and just below Other Books, which i tried to exile to the lowest depths, though i can't put it below Parallels. But now when i open MT-LXX from the Tools list, the background says it's in Other Books, although it's not— it's between Other Books and Parallels. This seems a bit clumsy. R. Mansfield
Just double-click any of the titles under Parallels. You'll see it creates a different kind of zone. It has multiple panes from the beginning. There's a list of parallel passages to choose from at the top right. You have options such as "Tie Scrolling" and "Add Text" that don't appear with other kinds of texts or tools.
Joel Brown
Rick is correct, as the 'Parallels' are completely different types of tools from everything else. MT-LXX Parallel is a word to word (or idea to idea) matching of two different texts. The parallel tools display pericopes that occur in parallel within the same text, but different places. The MT-LXX Parallel and all other tools offer a browser, multiple search fields at the top, and exporting by citation. The Parallel tools offer a simple search box, a list of pericopes at the top, and multiple parallel panes of each different pericope. Try double clicking on the Parallels to see what I mean - they really are very different in nature.
