Move Organized Library

Tom Castle

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon...

I apologize for my density. I installed Accordance on a new computer that I built. All went very well. However, I'd spent a ton of time re-organizing my Library. Is there a settings file or something somewhere that I can move to the new machine so that I will not have to do all that work again?

Thanks in advance.

Copy and paste these 'Folders' over to your new computer. This should give you a mirror of your original library.

user/Library/Preferences/Accordance Preferences
user/Documents/Accordance Files

It's a good idea to periodically back those files up anyway, in case your library ever gets messed up.

Tom, I've just realised that you might be a windows user. That being the case the folders may be stored somewhere else on your directory, and you should check in with technical support. (They will be there somewhere!)

I'm on Windows 10 and I see a folder called Accordance Files, which contains folders Highlights, Papers, Stacks, User Notes, and User Tools, and my workspace files. I don't see anything related to how my Library is organized. Perhaps that's saved similar to how Preferences are saved (Windows Registry??).

Anyone know if one's library is exportable? And transferable to another device -- 2nd computer or even cross-platform (e.g. Win to iOS)?

Kind regards.

On Windows, look in users\[username]\AppData\Local\Accordance.  In this directory, you can copy the entire folder 'Accordance Preferences', if you are setting up a brand new machine.

Just be aware that these preferences are NOT compatible across platforms.

Thank you so much. I see the 'Accordance Preferences' folder. Now I'm wondering why is my 'Accordance Files' folder somewhere else (it's on a different drive, under 'accordance data' which is under my Acc v13 installer file is.

Can I move my 'Accordance Files' folder to be under ...'\users\'[username]'\AppData\Local\Accordance' so that it's alongside 'Accordance Preferences'? I didn't see folder locations in Preferences.

No. "Accordance Files" contains your user-created information and needs to be left where it is. The same applies to your "Accordance Preferences" folder. You can create back-ups of them, but don't move them.
