Randy Cue
I'm considering updating from snow leopard to mountain lion. Has anyone noticed any changes in speed of applications under mountain lion? How about heat issues, does it run hotter? Soli Deo Gloria, Randy
Anon
Several factors can contribute in how 'fast' a machine processes. I think the first step would be to consult Apple's website and various other tech websites so as to verify that your machine is optimal for upgrading. What I mean by optimal is room to accommodate Lion and Mountain Lion. For example, Apple listed the 2007 BlackBooks as capable of upgrading to Lion. I upgraded it. Then downgraded it. While the BlackBook with 2GB of RAM (that's all it supports) does indeed run Lion, it was very slow. I've not done any benchmarks, but I've noticed that Lion and Mountain Lion seem to be greedy with RAM. For example, my 2009 MBP, 8GB of RAM, running Mountain Lion Server idles at 3.45GB of Ram. So, make sure you have a good backup, and make sure you have room to 'grow.' I run Accordance on both my Mountain Lion Server 2009 MBP 8GB RAM and Lion 2012 MBP 16GB RAM, and it performs with the usual speed and snappiness. Alex H.
James gives good advice. From my experience running a 20" mid-2007 iMac with 4Gb of RAM, ML is better than Lion in all respects, not least of all stability and speed. I still get the occasional beach-balling and couple of minor issues, but overall I feel like it's better.

JohnK
I have an iMac with 4 GB of Ram. There are two more slots so I can double the ram which I plan to do before upgrading to Mountain Lion. I have not yet upgraded Accordance to 9.6.4 and I think I should add the memory and upgrade the OS before upgrading Accordance. What do you think? Thanks, John. Greg Terry
I would upgrade Accordance now. I have a 2011 MB Air with 4 GB and Mountain Lion. Accordance runs beautifully - and if anything the computer seems a little faster with ML. Accordance has always been a speedy app on nearly any hardware combo from the last few years. I don't ever recall any sort of slowdown when upgrading Accordance. I would upgrade Accordance and try it out. Save that OS and memory cash to buy more Accordance modules! twbeining
My iMac with 4 GB is only about 6 months old. I updated to Mountain Lion about a week ago. I thought at first it slowed the computer down a bit. After I made sure everything important to me was working properly I shut my machine down. After restarting it a few hours later I am now convinced that it runs better than it did before the upgrade to ML. It just seems faster than before the OS upgrade and Accordance runs like a top on it. Tim
