Highlight Verse but Reference Won't Open to that Verse

When I highlight a verse and then click to open a reference work like EBC, either the referenc work won't open or it opens to the wrong verse.

Can you give a specific example? What version of Accordance are you running, and how are you amplifying to EBC?

I use 11.0.2. I've been using Accordance for several years and did not have this problem before 11. So for example I just opened Accordance and put the cursor within Genesis 1:1 reference and tried to open a commentary. Nothing happened. Sometimes it opens but just at the beginning.

 

I also tried highlighting the verse reference and same problem.

 

I also tried to open EBC from the library and it opened to 2Samuel.

How are you opening the commentary? With the File menu? Double clicking from the Library? Right-click?

What I really want is to be able to access it from the tool bar. Using the library is not my first choice. So how can I fix the toolbar?

Hi Allen,

 

can you do these checks and try this please?

 

Check you preferences (in the amplify section) and make sure you have “include reference when amplifying” (optional - but I find it makes the amplify more accurate) and “require selection when amplifying"

then select the reference you would like to amplify from and then click the reference tools on the toolbar (ctrl-click the toolbar if ref tools aren’t on the toolbar and add them in by dragging)

after you have selected the relevant commentary, you should find the section open

Let us know how you go. (not trying to teach you how to suck eggs, just checking the process)

I have the preferences correct and it will not open any of my reference tools in the toolbar. Please understand that I've been using Accordance for years and have never had this problem. I hope someone out there believes me. I don't see how a screenshot is going to do you any good.

 

this is getting to be aggravating. Maybe I should just throw this in the trash and have you send it to me again. Obviously something is wrong besides pilot error.

Allen, it may be best to contact tech support directly so they can help understand and fix and issues you are experiencing.
