bradk Posted April 21, 2011 Share Posted April 21, 2011 Trying to use the Daily reading plan I found installed as part of a package only iPad has frustrated me. I read the discussion elsewhere how to start on a day of your choice. I decided that I would start on the current calendar day and hope that the plan will lead me into thi gs well. Each date has NT, OT, Psalms, and Proverb. If I click on the underlined reference for today a popup with the scripture text appears. Often it is shortened and ends rapier than the reference with an elipses (3 dots). I've tried but have found no way to display the entire reference except by writing it down or copying it and selecting a text and enterering the full reference to see the missing text. I have my preferences on which copy of the text I want to read. Often I would like to compare several. I have found no way to control that in Daily Reading plans. With all the power in Accordance I feel I'm missing something that is there somewhere I may becasking for something not yet implemented for iOS. [twitter][/twitter] Can someone clarify this for me. Thanks. pS this would be easier on a full Mac but I like the portability of the iPad or iPhone so I can take my daily devotions will me. Our users originally just wanted to be able to read Accordance modules on their iDevices. It's quickly become obvious that people are using Accordance mobile for much more than that. It's been especially fascinating to watch the iOS version's evolution (can I use that word here? ;-) ) into its own discrete niche. Good things are coming! While I can't speak for our programmers and assure you it will be in the next rev, I do know the feature is high on our priority list. Our users originally just wanted to be able to read Accordance modules on their iDevices. It's quickly become obvious that people are using Accordance mobile for much more than that. It's been especially fascinating to watch the iOS version's evolution (can I use that word here? ;-) ) into its own discrete niche. Good things are coming! I've noticed the same thing. I had some sort of idea of using Accordance on an iOS device as an easily available reference book. But the more I have it, the more ideas I get on what I would like to do with it. My thinking of the iOS version and the Mac version are quite difference. Alot of the more extensive research and deep diving I use the Mac version for is a bit rough on the iOS version simply because of the user interface differences. People keep talking about the Post PC era. But frankly I see there is still a clear distinction. The time may be coming and faster than we expect where the two will merge, but there are a lot of user interface issues that have not been solved for the mobile platform for it to be a comfortable substitute for a device with a full size keyboard. Since I've had my iPad, I've been getting new perspective on how to sort out what I like doing on the iPad and what I want my Mac Book for. One of my friends asked me why I wanted an iPad since i have an Mac Book Air. They are still quite different. The same goes for Accordance Bible on each. For things that the touch interface of the iPad work well for, the iPad is easier to carry and work with in the mobile environment. But some more complex activities still work better on a keyboard. I don't know how long that will remain so. I'm impressed with the innovation of the designers in this area. But I still maintain they are conquering the divide rather that they have conquered it. I'm looking forward to what the next few years will bring. Please encourage your people that there is a real use for the daily devotional application with the deep reference material in Accordance. David Voth Posted April 21, 2011 Share Posted April 21, 2011 Right now, until anything more is provided for devotionals, you can copy from the pop-up so you can get the reference there and then after opening a Bible you can paste into the search field to display the passage.
