Lawson Stone
I love the Atlas module! Two things that would make me love it even more would be: 1. With the "color" options, an option for topographic lines which would need options, I suppose, for scale. 2. I often want to illustrate the extremes in elevation in Israel, and would love to be able to make a "cut" across a piece of terrain, say from the coast through Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, and turn it sideways with some exaggeration of the scale to illustrate the elevation contrasts. Currently I don't find the cross-sections of maps to give the kind of feel for elevation that I'm looking for. 3. I also would like to be able to make diagonal selections 4. Regional names could be added (Bet Netofa Valley, etc) 5. Control over regional names (which to display) would be lovely All of which is to say this module is so outstanding that I use it so much that I just want more of the same! Helen Brown
Lawson: I know we considered adding topographical lines, but it is just not feasible. The 3D Map does exactly what you are asking except for diagonal cuts. Select any area and choose the degree of exaggeration from the Open 3D pop-up menu (the little triangle tells you it is a menu not just a button). The resulting rectangular section can be rotated to show the North-South cuts as well as the East-West ones. You can add any names or indeed anything you want to a user layer, and display that on top of the other layers. Control over individual Regional names is not built in to the database, sorry!
