Map height data

Recommended Posts

Got some strange things happening with the height data in the maps, see attached.

There's a straight line running N-S to the east of which is no height data. There's a rapid fall-off rather than an immediate loss of data.

Anyone?

What version of Accordance? What version of the Atlas? If version 2, have you downloaded the update to 2.2? What is the date and size of the Altitude data file in the Atlas files folder?

8.0.3 on 10.5.4, atlas version unknown but should be up to date, will run the updater again anyway.

Data folder is 592.6MB dated 2005-07-27

The date on the file is wrong, it should be July 28, 05. I suggest you manually copy it from the disk (Graphics DVD or Atlas 2-2) and replace the bad copy you have.

Ran the 2.2 upgrade, confirmed Sites is version 4.0, but problem persists.

Also has a problem drawing mountains, I've discovered. This one is centred on Patmos but draws the mountains (@16x) beyond the sea :(

I only have the Atlas 2 disk :(.

Will it work if I re-install that one and run the 2.2 upgrade again?

Use the second disk of Atlas 2 and manually copy the Altitude data. That file has not changed and is not affected by the 2.2 update.

OK, someone else has reported a problem like this, looks like it may be our first 8.0.3 bug.

I checked the file on my Atlas 2-2 CD but the date there is the same, 2005-07-27 12:12:47, size 592.6 MB.

Not July 28.

Apart from the N-S height cut off, the mountain redraw problem is there in 7.4.2.

It's most noticeable on rotating the map.

The mountain redraw problem persists in 8.0.4.

Unnoticeable in 1x height, most noticeable in 16x. Location on map makes no difference.

:(

What about the data file? I can confirm that the date is 2005-07-27 12:12:47, size 592.6 MB. Not July 28.

Thanks!!

The mountain redraw problem is inherent in Apple's Open GL architecture, and we cannot fix it. It is exacerbated by using 16x vertical magnification, which is really intended only for very large areas. It just distorts the image when used on small areas.

Your data file is fine, that was a bug that you reported and it is fixed in 8.0.4.
