Hebrew construct: feminie suffix connected to male referent

Hi,

I am farely new to accordance. I tried to build a hebrew construct, that shows me all verses, where I can find a feminie suffix connected to a male noun or verb, while excluding any feminine word in the same verse.

This is the setting I found in Proverbs 12:25, where the feminine suffixes are most probably connected to "leb" = heart, which is masculine. This causes some troubles for most exegetes and I just want to take a look at how often one may find such a construct in the OT.

Can someone help me out on this one?

Karl,

You're on the right track with building a Hebrew construct, but you don't need to exclude Hebrew nouns from the entire verse; you simply need to specify that a feminine noun cannot appear between the masculine noun and the feminine suffix. Here's one way to do that:

1. Open a tab with the Hebrew Bible as your search text, click the Words button to search by words, then use the keyboard shortcut command-3 to open a new Hebrew construct which will automatically be linked to your Hebrew Bible window.

2. Drag a NOUN element into the rightmost column. In the dialog box that appears, select masculine from the Gender pop-up menu.

3. Drag a SUFFIX element into the next column. In the dialog box that appears, select feminine from the Gender pop-up menu.

4. Drag a WITHIN connecting item above the two columns and specify how close you want the two words to appear. Without the WITHIN, Accordance assumes that the two columns are adjacent.

5. Drag an INTER connecting item above the two columns. This item lets you specify items which may or may not appear between other elements. You do that by dragging items into the INTER item.

6. Drag a NOUN element into the INTER. In the dialog box that appears, select feminine from the Gender pop-up menu.

7. Drag a NOT item on top of the INTER label. A slash should now appear across the word INTER.

8. Click the find button or hit return to perform the search.

That ought to do it.
