Text selection via keyboard in user notes glitch

I'd like to report a text selection issue in the user notes. This is the procedure to reproduce the problem.

1) Select a verse and Edit User Note (select note file).

2) Enter something like the following text:

This is information I learned about his verse. I typed in notes from a handout that had _ for writing in notes as the pastor gave the sermon.

3) Use the mouse to double-click on the underscore in that text and overwrite it with "underlined areas" (without the quotes).

4) Right after typing "underlined areas" hold down shift and then hold down the left arrow to select "underlined areas". (after making a selection then I use Command-U to underline or Command-B to bold the selected text or use Command-L to make a link)

5) What most often happens is that as the selection expands to the left the first character that was highlighted (the "s" in "areas") becomes unselected and the new first character selected becomes the one to the left (the second "a" in "areas"). The irritating thing about this is when it happens the selection point has moved to the point BEFORE the first character selected (before the "s") and so trying to reselect it to the right cannot recover the "s."

6) The same scenario can be duplicated where in #4 hold down shift and then just press the left arrow several times to select (rather than holding the left arrow down) and then it is much easier to see that the "s" WAS selected and then became unselected.

I think this is really timing-dependent and it MIGHT be related to the flashing cursor. It seems that if you catch the time JUST AFTER the cursor flashes off then it most frequently happens. For example, the cursor flashes ON, OFF, ON, OFF, ON, with timing like the following (where ^^^^^ = ON and _____ = OFF):

^^^^^_____^^^^^_____^^^^^

Try to catch the cursor right after it goes from ^^^^^ to _____. In other words, at the point "X" below:

^^^^^_X___

I'm using Accordance 10.2.4 on OS X 10.8.4 to duplicate this problem and it has been around for a LONG time. The way I've worked around it is to either use the mouse to select words or arrow to the right once and then left once and then start selected to the left.

Last weekend I put 10.3.0 to the test on this issue and i didn't notice the text selection issue I described above. I have since updated to 10.3.1. I'll be giving this a test again on Sunday, but at the moment it seems that the problem was resolved.
